Please include your phone model, your Android version and the App version (shown in your phone's Settings > Apps > Rental Book). For a payment problem, also include the order or UPI transaction reference.
Getting Started
Do I need an account?
No. Rental Book works without signing in, and your records stay on your phone. You are asked to sign in with Google only if you buy a subscription, so it can follow you to a new phone.
How do I add or change my trades?
You choose the trades you run when you first open the App. To add or remove one later, open More > Trades. One business can run several trades in the same App.
Can I use the App in Hindi?
Yes. The App is available in English and Hindi.
Bookings, Bills and Reminders
How do I send a bill or a booking slip to a customer?
Open the booking or bill and choose to send it as text, an image or a PDF. Pick WhatsApp, SMS or another app, then tap Send there. The App never sends anything to your customers by itself. Bills can carry a pay QR for your own UPI ID, which you set in your business profile.
I didn't get a reminder
Reminders are scheduled on your phone. Check that notifications are allowed for Rental Book, and allow exact alarms when the App asks, so reminders arrive on time. Some phones also stop apps in the background to save battery: set Rental Book's battery use to "Unrestricted" in your phone's settings.
What is the khata?
The khata is your credit ledger: money customers owe you and money they have paid. You can send a customer their khata statement in the same way as a bill.
Backup and a New Phone
Where are my records kept?
Only on your phone. We do not have a copy, so we cannot restore them for you. Use the backups below to keep them safe.
How do I back up?
Open More > Backup:
- On this phone: the App makes a daily backup and keeps the last seven. Tap Back up now to make one at any time. These are lost if the phone is lost or the App is uninstalled.
- Google Drive: tap Back up to Google Drive to keep a copy in a private folder in your own Google Drive. Photos are uploaded on Wi-Fi only. Back up to Drive now makes one at once.
- Save a copy off the phone: Save copy or Send copy makes a full copy with photos that you keep wherever you like.
How do I move to a new phone?
On the new phone, install Rental Book, open More > Backup and tap Restore from Drive (sign in with the same Google account) or Restore from a file (pick the copy you saved). Without a backup, records on the old phone cannot be moved.
Can BinaryScript see my Drive backup?
No. It is stored in your own Google account, in a folder only Rental Book can open. Tap Turn off in the Google Drive section to stop the backup and remove the App's access.
Subscriptions and Payments
How do I pay for premium?
In India, you pay through PhonePe with UPI AutoPay or a UPI QR code, approving the payment in your own UPI app. Outside India, you pay through Google Play. The App shows what premium includes and its price before you pay.
I paid but premium didn't unlock
Make sure you are signed in with the same Google account you paid with. If it still doesn't unlock, email us with the order or UPI transaction reference and we will sort it out.
How do I cancel?
For UPI AutoPay, cancel the mandate in the UPI app you approved it in, or email us. For Google Play, open Play Store > profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions. Uninstalling the App does not cancel billing. See the Refund Policy.
Your Data
What do you collect?
Your business records never reach us. We collect anonymous usage and crash statistics and, only if you sign in to buy a subscription, your account and subscription details. The full details are in the Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my data or my account?
Uninstalling the App removes everything it stored on your phone. To delete a Drive backup, an account or the server record, follow How to Delete Your Account.
