Privacy Policy for Offline Khata

BinaryScript Private Limited ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Offline Khata mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles and why.

1. Introduction

Offline Khata is an offline-first ledger ("khata") app. Your ledger, including your customers, suppliers, entries, bill photos and business details, is stored only on your device. We do not receive, store or have access to it.

2. Information Stored Only on Your Device

The following never leaves your device unless you choose to share it:

Your business name, country and currency
Customers and suppliers, their names, phone numbers and notes
Ledger entries, amounts, dates, due dates and bill photos
Your app lock PIN (stored in the device's secure storage)

Contacts: when you use "Import contacts", the App reads the names and phone numbers of the contacts you select, on your device, to add them as customers or suppliers. Your contact list is not uploaded anywhere.

Camera and photos: a bill photo you take or pick is compressed and stored in the App's database on your device.

Backups: a backup is a file created on your device. It goes wherever you send it (for example, your own cloud drive or a chat app), and we never receive it.

Reminders and statements: payment reminders and PDF statements are sent through the app you choose (for example WhatsApp or SMS). We do not see them.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Analytics (Firebase Analytics)

We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used, for example which screens are opened, whether onboarding was completed, and whether a subscription was started or bought. This includes device information (model, operating system version), app version, approximate country, and a pseudonymous app-instance identifier. Event data never includes your ledger, customer names or phone numbers.

3.2 Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)

When the App crashes we collect the crash log, device model, operating system version and app version to fix the problem. Crash reports do not include your ledger.

3.3 Remote configuration (Firebase Remote Config)

The App fetches settings from Firebase Remote Config, such as the free-plan limit and whether an update is required.

3.4 Account (only if you sign in)

In some regions (currently India, on Android), a subscription is bought through our payment partner and linked to an account. To create that account you sign in with Google (or Apple on iOS) through Firebase Authentication. We then receive your name, email address and a unique account identifier from Google or Apple, and store them on our server together with your subscription status, your country, the App's language, and basic device information (operating system, app version). This account is used only to activate and restore your subscription.

3.5 Purchases

Subscriptions bought through Google Play or the App Store are processed by Google or Apple. Subscriptions bought through UPI AutoPay in India are processed by PhonePe, through our payment server. We receive the order and subscription status, the plan and the amount. We do not receive your card number, bank account or UPI PIN.

3.6 What we do not collect

Your ledger, customers, suppliers or entries
Your contact list or photos
Precise location
Advertising identifiers for ads (the App shows no ads)

4. How We Use Information

To provide and restore your subscription
To fix crashes and improve the App
To understand which features are used and how the paywall performs
To respond to support requests

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade or rent your information. We share information only with the service providers listed above, as needed to run the App, or when required by law.

7. Data Security

Your ledger stays on your device; protect it with the App's PIN or fingerprint lock and your device's screen lock. Connections to Firebase and to our server are encrypted. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

8. Data Retention

Analytics and crash data are kept according to Firebase's retention settings. Account and subscription records are kept while your account is active and as required for accounting and legal purposes. Data on your device stays until you delete it, clear the App's data or uninstall the App.

9. Your Choices and Rights

You can use the App without an account unless you subscribe through UPI AutoPay in India.
You can sign out at any time from Settings.
You can ask us to delete your account and the data we hold about it by emailing support@binaryscript.com from the email address of that account.
Uninstalling the App deletes the ledger on your device. Keep a backup file if you want to restore it later.

10. Children's Privacy

The App is meant for business owners and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

11. International Transfers

Firebase may process analytics, crash and authentication data outside India, including in the United States, under Google's privacy practices.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. The "Last Updated" date above shows the latest version. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the updated policy.
