How to Delete Your Account and Data
You can delete your Water Reminder account and associated data through the following methods:
Method 1: Delete Within the App (Recommended)
- Open the Water Reminder - Hydration Tracker app
- Go to Settings or Account section
- Tap on "Clear All Data" or "Delete Account"
- Review the warning about permanent data deletion
- Confirm your decision to permanently delete your account and data
- Your local data will be deleted immediately
- If you have a cloud account, your cloud data will also be marked for deletion
Method 2: Email Request
If you're unable to access the app or prefer to request deletion via email:
- Send an email to [email protected]
- Use the subject line: "Water Reminder Account Deletion Request"
- Include your registered email address (if you created an account with Google Sign-In)
- Confirm that you want to permanently delete your account and all associated data
- We will process your request within 30 days
What Data Will Be Deleted
When you delete your Water Reminder account, the following data will be permanently removed:
Health & Fitness Data
- Personal Health Metrics: Weight, height, age, gender, activity level
- Water Intake Logs: All water consumption records with timestamps
- Custom Notes: Any notes you've attached to water logs
- Hydration Goals: Your personalized daily water intake goals
- Achievement Records: All unlocked achievements and milestone data
- Streak Data: Current streak and historical streak information
Account Information
- Google Account profile information (name, email, profile picture)
- Authentication tokens and session data
- User ID and account credentials
App Settings & Preferences
- Notification preferences and reminder settings
- Wake-up and sleep time schedules
- Sound, vibration, and theme preferences
- Unit system settings (metric/imperial)
- All customization options
Analytics and Usage Data
- App interaction data and usage patterns
- Crash reports and diagnostic data linked to your account
- Performance metrics associated with your device
What Happens to Local and Cloud Data
Local Data (Stored on Your Device)
- All local data is stored in a SQLite database on your device
- When you delete data through the app, it's immediately removed from your device
- To ensure complete removal, you can also clear the app's cache and data from device settings
- Uninstalling the app will also remove all locally stored data
Cloud Data (Optional Account Feature)
- If you created an account with Google Sign-In, some data is synced to our servers
- Cloud data includes: profile information, goals, and settings (NOT water logs)
- Upon deletion request, cloud data will be marked for permanent deletion
- Server Location: India
Data Retention Period
- In-App Deletion: Local data deleted immediately; cloud data marked for deletion
- Email Request: Processing within 30 days of receiving your email
- Backup Systems: Data may remain in backup systems for up to 90 days before permanent purging
- Analytics: Anonymized, aggregated analytics may be retained for statistical purposes (cannot be linked back to you)
- Legal Compliance: We may retain certain data if required by law
Important Notes
⚠️ WARNING: This action is permanent and cannot be undone!
- Data Recovery: After deletion, you will not be able to recover your health data, water logs, achievements, or streaks
- Historical Records: All historical hydration data will be permanently lost
- Subscription: If you have an active subscription, it will be canceled (see our Refund Policy for details)
- New Account: You can create a new account with the same email address after deletion, but you'll start from scratch
- Multi-Device: If you're signed in on multiple devices, deletion will affect all devices
Before You Delete - Export Your Data
Before deleting your account, we strongly recommend exporting your hydration data for your personal records:
How to Export Data
- Open Water Reminder app
- Go to Settings or Analytics section
- Select "Export Data" or "Download Data"
- Choose CSV format for compatibility with spreadsheet apps
- Data export includes:
- Daily water intake logs with timestamps
- Personal health metrics (weight, height, etc.)
- Achievement unlock dates
- Streak history
- Save the exported file to your device or cloud storage
Why Export Data?
- Personal Records: Keep a permanent record of your hydration journey
- Health Tracking: Share with healthcare providers if needed
- Data Analysis: Analyze patterns and trends in your own tools
- Future Reference: You may want to review your progress in the future
Alternative to Full Deletion
If you're concerned about privacy but don't want to delete all your data permanently, consider these alternatives:
- Sign Out: Simply sign out of the app to stop syncing cloud data
- Disable Analytics: Turn off Firebase Analytics in app settings
- Delete Specific Logs: Delete individual water logs you don't want to keep
- Disable Notifications: Turn off reminders without deleting data
- Use Offline Mode: Use the app without creating an account (completely offline)
- Pause Subscription: Cancel your subscription while keeping your data intact
Privacy and Health Data
We take your health data privacy seriously:
- Your health and fitness data is considered sensitive personal information
- We use industry-standard encryption to protect data in transit and at rest
- Local storage on your device is encrypted by the operating system
- Cloud data is stored securely on Firebase servers with restricted access
- We do not sell or share your health data with third parties for marketing

What Happens to Subscriptions
If you have an active premium subscription when you delete your account:
- Your subscription will be canceled automatically
- You will not be charged for future billing periods
- You may have access to premium features until the end of your current billing period
- No refunds for the current billing period (unless within refund window)

Canceling Subscription Without Deleting Data
If you only want to cancel your subscription but keep your data:
- Google Play: Go to Play Store > Subscriptions > Water Reminder > Cancel
- Razorpay: Contact [email protected]
- Your data will remain intact, but you'll revert to the free plan after the current period ends
