Do you need an account? Only in India, on Android, where you sign in with Google to subscribe through PhonePe. Everywhere else the App works without signing in: there is no account, and purchases go through Google Play or the App Store. The account information, the approximate location saved on your account and PhonePe payments described in this policy apply only to users who sign in.

Approximate Location: When you start the App, it looks up your approximate location from your device's network (IP) address: country, state or region, city, and the approximate latitude and longitude of that area. This is not GPS: the App never asks for location permission and cannot see your precise location. If the lookup fails, no location is recorded. If you sign in, this approximate location is saved once on your account; it is not updated later.

At app start, the App sends a request to BigDataCloud's reverse-geocoding service (api.bigdatacloud.net), which uses your network (IP) address to return an approximate location (country, state or region, city, approximate coordinates). No account or device identifiers are sent with this request.

4.3 Meta (Facebook) App Events

On Android and iOS the App uses the Meta (Facebook) SDK to record app events, including trials and purchases, to measure our advertising.

4.4 Advertising Measurement (Google Ads)

Google Ads measures installs and in-app conversions through Firebase / Google Analytics. The App sends its Firebase app instance ID and its Meta anonymous ID to our backend, which reports trials and payments to Google Analytics (Measurement Protocol). Device advertising identifiers (the Android Advertising ID, and on iOS the advertising identifier only if you allow tracking) are used for this ad measurement. You can reset or delete your Android Advertising ID, or turn off tracking on iOS, in your device settings.
